Frequently Asked Questions

Most frequently asked repair Questions

Troubleshooting guide for Frequently Asked Questions - This section will give a conversation style reply to many of the most frequently asked repair questions. "How to Repair" is not in any instruction manuals so you will be asked these questions quite often.

Arcade Hoops

Q: "I have broken scissor bars on my game. How do I replace them once I get the parts?"

A: "Using a flat-head screwdriver, simply pry off the old broken ones where they meet with the rivets. The rivets should pop free and the old bars can be discarded. The bars that I will send you will come equipped with three rivets apiece. They will be threaded rivets so you will not need a rivet gun or any heavy tools to attach them. Simply thread them through the matching holes and tighten."

Q: "One of the broken scissor bars is the one with the plastic cap that feeds into the cabinet on the wall.

A: "this one can also be changed at home with replacement parts though it will require you to temporarily remove the unit from the wall. First, remove any other broken parts of the bar while the unit is still mounted. Then, when looking at the plastic cap on top of this bar you will notice how it is fits in the slide plate. You will also notice the three bolts on the side of the cabinet that holds the slide plate in place. You must remove these three bolts and then take the unit off the wall. The unit should be sitting upright, (as if it were hanging on the wall) and you should be standing directly behind it. Looking down, you can see the slide plate that you earlier removed the 3 bolts from. Reach down, grab it, and slowly pull it towards you. You will notice that you now have plenty of room to reach behind the plate and hold the rivet while you unthread the other end. Thread the new one in from this same angle, hang the unit and re-attach the rest of the bar."

Q: "How do I install a new scoreboard for my basketball game?"

A: "If you are standing in front of the unit you will notice there are four bolts that fasten the scoreboard to the backboard. You can simply loosen all four of these bolts and remove them. The unit will then have to be taken off the wall as the scoreboard must be pushed through the back of the backboard, not pulled through the front. After the scoreboard is freed from the backboard you will notice the various plugs running from it. Disconnect these and note which plug came from which wire. Reattach these plugs to the new scoreboard and re-mount in the backboard."

Air Hockey

Q: My aluminum strip on the inside of the wooden rails is coming off, can and how would I replace this piece? (pic of aluminum railing)

A: Yes, the aluminum strips can be replaced. There are three strips on the tables; long sides, goal strips and curved pieces in the corner. For long side and goal strips, measurements of the strips will need to be taken by the customer, and then passed along to the warehouse when ordering parts. The aluminum strips are attached to the wooden rails with screws and by an adhesive. To remove the strip, remove the screws first. Then use a hair dryer to heat the adhesive up so it will release from the wood. Then slowly pull the strip away from the table. To install the new strip; heat the back of the adhesive using the hair dryer. As it gets warm the adhesive will become sticky, at this point place the aluminum strip on the wood and clamp it down to let the adhesive set. With the clamps on put the screws back in and let the adhesive set for several hours.

Q: How to determine a right leg vs. a left leg?

A: The rule of thumb on this one is to go by the part numbers in the owner's manual. The guys in the warehouse will pull replacement legs by their part numbers. Legs can also be determined by standing by the side of the table as if you were playing the game.

Q: I have black scuffmarks on the playing surface of my table. How can I remove them?

A: Scuffmarks are normal wear on the air hockey tables, and will occur the more play the table receives. Scuffmarks can be removed from the playing surface using nail polish remover. The nail polish remover should be applied to a rag first. The fans will need to be turned on as well. NAIL POLISH REMOVER WILL TAKE THE GRAPHICS OFF THE PLAYING SURFACE. Have the customers go around the graphics with the nail polish remover on the rag. This will remove the unwanted scuffmarks.

Q: How do I determine if I have an "A" or "B" scoreboard?

A: The scoreboard is held over the top of the table with the brace pole (chrome). There is a wire running down the inside of that pole which ends at the underside of the table. Have the customer find and look at the end of the wire. If there are two plugs at the end of the wire (9-pin and 4-pin), this is a "B" type pole wire and a "B" type scoreboard. If there are three plugs at the end of the pole wire (9-pin and two 2-pin), this is an "A" type pole wire and an "A" type scoreboard.

Foosball

Foosball seems to be our most reliable indoor game. Rarely are there repetitive problems with these units that would warrant any "most common repair" questions. The single question that may arise from the consumer is determining a right from a left leg.

Q: "I have a broken leg on my foosball table. The manual says there is both a left and right leg. How do I know which one I need?"

A: "Stand at the game as if you are playing it. If the leg you need is on the left, it is a "left" leg. If the leg you need is on the right, you need a "right" leg.
